The answers to these questions and more will be offered at Tshikululu Social Investment’s sixth Serious Social Investing Conference, themed “Citizens today. Leaders tomorrow.” The conference, an established item on the corporate social investment calendar, will explore the many facets of leadership within the social investment context in general and within South Africa in particular.
The conference takes place as follows:
Date: 15 and 16 April 2015
Time: 08:30 – 17:00
Venue: Gordon Institute of Business Science, Illovo, Johannesburg
This year, the Serious Social Investing conference boasts an impressive spread of pioneering leaders from a variety of sectors. Brand Pretorius, the former chief executive officer of McCarthy Retail Limited, will be speaking, together with Dr Sizwe Mabizela, the new vice-chancellor of Rhodes University; Dr Vincent Maphai, chair of the Discovery Foundation; Paul Verryn, bishop of the Central District, Methodist Church of southern Africa and Pepe Marais, the chief creative officer of Joe Public. They will be joined by some inspirational leaders: Paul Gurney, whose adventures have taken him from the North Pole to the Sahara and Sonja Kruse, the Ubuntu Girl, who travelled around South Africa relying on the kindness of strangers.
In addition to these speakers, and as a means of varying the programme, a series of interactive master classes will spur lively debate.
