The FirstRand Empowerment Foundation is a registered trust established to support education initiatives in South Africa. It has adopted a Systemic Social Investment approach, where it looks to invest in initiatives and activities that have the potential to influence and help drive large-scale, system-wide change. FREF’s specific area of strategic focus is basic education (grades R-12).
