Anglo American Foundation, South Africa

The Anglo-American Foundation is one of the dedicated instruments through which Anglo American channels its corporate social investment (Social Investment) spend, and was named the top Social Investment grant-maker in South Africa for eight consecutive years.

The Anglo-American Foundation (AAF) has recently undertaken a strategic review of its work to define its key strategic focus areas for the next seven to ten years.

While AAF remains aligned with the Anglo-American purpose (“reimagining mining to improve people’s lives”) and geographical footprint, it will be distinct and independent from the company. Additionally, AAF will move from being a passive grant-maker to an engaged, strategic grant-maker, focusing on long-term, system-level change, at a country/ regional level.

AAF’s future strategic focus will be on empowering youth to create sustainable and inclusive communities, through catalysing green value chains and building resilience.
